The Details

The Omnilux Clear combines two clinically proven wavelengths of light — blue (415nm) and red (633nm) — to eliminate the acne-causing bacteria responsible for breakouts at the surface of the skin. Blue light targets C. acnes, the bacteria that triggers the inflammation and redness we associate with acne, while red light calms existing inflammation and supports the skin's natural healing process. The result: fewer breakouts, reduced redness, and clearer skin over time — with no pain, no peeling, and no prescription required.

Backed by over 40 peer-reviewed clinical studies, the Omnilux Clear is the same technology trusted by dermatologists worldwide — now available for professional-grade results at home.

FAQ

What is Omnilux Clear? Based on the world's leading Omnilux Medical™ light therapy technology, Clear is an FDA-cleared, flexible, portable home-use device with clinically proven results for acne. It uses blue and red light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to eliminate acne-causing bacteria and neutralize breakouts at the surface of the skin.

How does it work? The bacteria responsible for acne (C. acnes) produces natural chemicals called porphyrins that are sensitive to specific wavelengths of light. Blue light (415nm) activates these porphyrins to destroy the bacteria causing breakouts, while red light (633nm) reduces inflammation and accelerates the skin's healing response — working together to clear skin from the inside out.

Is it safe? Over 40 clinical studies and nearly 20 years of experience have confirmed that Omnilux light therapy is safe for all skin types, with no pain and no downtime. Omnilux Clear generates no heat or UV light and is intended for users age 14 and older. Note: People with darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV–VI) or a predisposition to photosensitivity may experience temporary pigmentation with blue light therapy. If there are any concerns, consult your dermatologist before use.

Does it have eye protection? Yes. While Omnilux Clear has been tested and cleared for eye safety, the device includes built-in eye shields for comfort, as some individuals may be sensitive to blue light.

What is the recommended treatment regimen? Use the Clear device 4 times per week for 6 weeks. After the initial treatment period, use only at the earliest signs of a new breakout. Do not use consecutively for more than 6 weeks — give your skin a rest before starting a new cycle.

Will it help with hormonal acne? Yes. Hormonal acne is still acne vulgaris — just triggered by hormonal shifts. The blue and red light targets the same C. acnes bacteria that drives inflammation regardless of the root cause.

Can I use Omnilux Clear alongside my current skincare? Clear is compatible with most skincare routines. However, avoid applying any products — including serums, moisturizers, or acne treatments — directly to the skin prior to each LED session. We do not recommend using Clear in conjunction with Accutane, retinol, or prescription-strength Benzoyl Peroxide without guidance from your dermatologist.

Can I use Clear and the Omnilux Contour Face together? Not simultaneously. We recommend completing your full 6-week Clear treatment to address active acne first. You can then transition to the Omnilux Contour Face for ongoing anti-aging maintenance and skin health restoration.

How long until I see results? Results vary by individual. Most users begin to notice improvement in the clarity and tone of their skin within the 6-week treatment window. Take before-and-after photos to track your progress — the difference is often more visible in comparison.

Does LED light therapy actually work for acne? Yes. Omnilux Clear is FDA-cleared and supported by clinical evidence spanning 20+ years. However, not all LED devices are created equal — many lack the clinical studies, output levels, or regulatory clearance to demonstrate proven effectiveness.
